India Announces Increase in Steel Exports

India plans to touch double-digit exports of steel in the next two or three years, said the Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh. According to an official, steel exports, currently at 8.2 million tonnes (mt), are likely to be close to 10 mt in three years’ time. This prediction will lead the country to the position of the world’s second largest steel exporter, due to its 16.5 million tonnes of crude steel capacity added in the last three years. India has become a net export of steel in the years 2016/17 and is heading towards to become a great player in the global scenario with highly competitive quality.
